On the occasion of CUMT’s 110th anniversary celebrations, a total of 55 international delegates, including some of the major members of senior management, visited CUMT to extend their sincere congratulations and participated in a series of celebration activities. They represent 25 partner universities from 15 countries, including, Argentina, Australia, Canada, Finland, Hungary Indonesia, Germany, Mongolia, Poland, Russia, South Africa, Thailand, UK, USA and Vietnam.International delegates participated in activities, including the Conference on the Innovative Development  and the China-Foreign University President Forum. CUMT held a series of bilateral talks with the overseas partner universities, and fruitful results have been achieved through these talks.

On the evening of May 30, President SONG Xuefeng and Vice President ZHOU Fubao held talks with the delegation from Saint-Petersburg Mining University in Russia, headed by Vice Rector Suslov Anatolii. President Song expressed his gratitude to Professor Suslov Anatolii for his attendance at the CUMT 110th anniversary events in person. President Song also expressed his warm welcome to SPMU for joining the International Higher Education Alliance for Mining, Energy and Environment. He briefly reviewed the cooperation and exchanges between the two universities in recent years, especially the previous cooperation in building the International Competence Center for Mining-Engineering Education (Category 2 Center under the Auspices of UNESCO). He pointed out that Saint-Petersburg Mining University is one of the oldest mining universities in the world. Given the fact that the two universities offer a similar range of disciplines and both sides enjoy a sound  partnership, CUMT is ready to deepen the cooperation in the building of the international platform under the auspices of UNESCO, and expects to work closely together with SPMU toward a productive cooperation.

Professor Suslov Anatolii, on behalf of Saint-Petersburg Mining University and its  Rector Vladimir S. Litvinenko, congratulated Professor Song on the 110th anniversary of CUMT. He said, CUMT has demonstrated good traditions and consistent high quality of education throughout the 110-year history, and has been  continuously enhancing its strengths through innovative development. All this has made CUMT the leading university of China in the field of mining with fond international reputation. He expressed his admiration and best wishes that new achievements would be made in future development. He also briefed on the International Competence Center for Mining- Engineering Education in terms of founding background, organizational structure, mission, work progress, operation mode etc. . He said that as one of the founding members and the only Chinese university that entered the Center's Steering Committee,  CUMT is expected to play a more important role in the construction of the Center and further exert its influence among mining universities in China and even in Asia as a whole. He was looking forward to the new achievements made through the cooperation from both universities.

Later on, both sides exchanged ideas and reached broad consensus on the construction of the International Competence Center for Mining-Engineering Education, joint training programs for graduate students, as well as faculty exchange programs.

From May 30 to June 2, CUMT held a total of 21 bilateral talks with the international partners during the University’s 110th anniversary. The talks focused on topics ranging from talent training, faculty exchange to joint research, and  a number of new cooperative intentions were achieved. For example, study at CUMT program was discussed with Mongolian University of Science and Technology in Mongolia, Hanoi University of Mining and Geology and Quang Ninh University of Industry in Vietnam; A Master of Energy Management Program was discussed with West Virginia University in the US. Research collaboration opportunities in specific areas were explored with Lappeenranta University of Technology in Finland and University of Queensland in Australia. Besides, a discussion was held with AGH University of Science and Technology in Poland  concerning  organizing a joint team to participate in international science and technology competitions. Opinions on co-hosting international conferences were exchanged with University of New South Wales and University of Wollongong in Australia. During the talks, CUMT signed memorandums of understanding or agreements respectively with Mongolian University of Science and Technology in Mongolia, Quang Ninh University of Industry in Vietnam, University of Pécs in Hungary ,University of Leeds  in the UK and  University of Kentucky in the US.
