CUMT delegation visited cooperative universities in USA

At invitations of the University of Kentucky(UK), West Virginia University(WVU) and Colorado School of Mines(CSM), President Ge Shirong and his delegation visited the universities from May 22 to May 28, 2017.

When visiting UK on May 23, President Ge met with UKs President Eli Capilouto, Provost Tim Tracy, Associate Provosts Susan Roberts and G. T. Lineberry. The two sides reviewed the 15 years cooperation and the achievements on student training and staff exchanges. It was agreed that, on the basis of successful 2+2 Engineering Undergraduates program, both sides will explore new cooperation patterns on trans-disciplinary talent training and scientific research. After the meeting, the delegation specially visited UKs College of Engineering and Gatton College of Business and Economics, and both sides agreed to establish educational exchange programs on intelligent mining and mine economy.    

On May 24 and 25, the delegation visited WVU. President Ge and WVU Provost Joyce McConnel signed a bilateral agreement and held CUMT-WVU Educational Cooperation Seminar to deepen talent training and scientific research. Both sides reached consensus on cooperation in the areas of occupation health and space mining, establishing educational exchange programs on civil engineering and energy economics.

During the visit, President Ge met with Prof. Badie Morsi, Chairman of Pittsburgh Coal Conference, and discussed related issues of the 35th Pittsburgh Coal Conference to be co-sponsored by CUMT.

When visiting CSM, President Ge renewed the cooperation agreement with CSMs President Paul Johnson and visited Earth Mechanics Institute and Lab of Petroleum Engineering. Both sides agreed to jointly implement the educational program on material science engineering.
