Delegation from Universiti Putra Malaysia(UPM) Visited CUMT
On the morning of March 30, a delegation led by YBhg. Prof. Dr. Nazamid Saari, Deputy Vice Chancellor (Research & Innovation) of Universiti Putra Malaysia and Huang Xuanshuo, President of Confederation of Malaysian Universities, visited CUMT. Li Jiangtao, Deputy Secretary of CUMT Party Committee, met with the delegation in Conference Room B501 of Xingjian Building. Heads from CUMT Office of the President, International Office, International College, and Quanshan District Government attended the meeting.
Mr. Li Jiangtao first extended a warm welcome to Prof. Nazamid and his delegation and then gave a brief introduction of CUMT. As a national key university directly under the Ministry of Education of P. R. China, CUMT was jointly built by the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Emergency Management, and the People’s Government of Jiangsu Province. CUMT has successively been elected into the national “Project 211”, “985 Platform”, and the national “Double First-Class” Initiative. Since it was founded more than a century ago, CUMT has make striking progress in university management, discipline development, and international exchanges and cooperation. Standing at a new starting point, CUMT strives to become a world-class university featuring energy and resource disciplines by mid- 21st century. It is hoped that the visit by Prof. Nazamid and his delegation marks a start of practical cooperation between the two universities.
Prof. Nazamid expressed great pleasure in visiting CUMT. He said that UPM was established in 1931 as the School of Agriculture. After more than 90 years of development, UPM has now grown into a comprehensive research university with 17 schools and 11 research institutions. At present, UPM is actively expanding its global cooperation network, hoping to enhance cooperation with CUMT in the advantageous disciplines and related fields of joint research, and promote common development of both universities.
After the meeting, Prof. Nazamid and his delegation visited the State Key Laboratory for Geomechanics & Deep Underground Engineering and CUMT History Museum.
Founded in 1931, Universiti Putra Malaysia is one of the top comprehensive research-oriented national universities in Malaysia.
