Good news came that Deep Underground Science and Engineering (DUSE), CUMT’s academic journal, has been collected into Engineering Index (EI Compendex and GEOBASE), the internationally renowned database.

DUSE, the inaugural international journal in the field of deep underground science, is supervised by the Ministry of Education, P. R. China, and is run by China University of Mining and Technology (CUMT), filling a crucial gap in both domestic and international academic landscapes. Prof. Xie Heping, an esteemed academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, serves as the editor-in-chief and Prof. Chunfai Leung, an academician of the Singapore Academy of Engineering, fulfills the role of executive editor. CUMT has collaborated with Wiley, a globally recognized publisher, to facilitate the worldwide open access (OA) publishing and dissemination of DUSE. Since its inaugural publication in September 2022, DUSE has released seven issues and published 79 outstanding online papers of exceptional quality. These papers have garnered significant attention, with scholars from 155 distinct countries or regions accessing them, resulting in a cumulative total of over 62,200 downloads. Notably, 9 papers have individually achieved a noteworthy milestone of over 2,000 downloads each, while another paper has attained an impressive tally of more than 5,000 downloads. Furthermore, the journal has garnered a respectable 159 citations in the Web of Science core collection, testament to its impact and recognition within the academic community. The journal has consecutively been indexed in various renowned databases, including EI, Scopus, DOAJ, CNKI, WANFANG DATA, and VIP database.

EI (Engineering Index) stands as one of the four globally renowned search tools, renowned for its extensive citation and literature abstract database that holds significant global influence. Its selection criteria and procedures are meticulously rigorous, emphasizing academic rigor, a high level of expertise, practical significance, quality standards, and timely publication. The successful inclusion of DUSE signifies that the journal has been extensively acknowledged and highly recognized by the international academic community in regards to academic quality control, international exchange and interaction, and publication standardization. This significant milestone will significantly strengthen the academic standing of DUSE on a global scale and firmly propel it towards a more advanced level of progress. This achievement holds immense importance for elevating the academic caliber of CUMT and broadening its international reach. Furthermore, it will facilitate academic research and exchange within the domain of deep underground science, thereby elevating CUMT’s scientific endeavors to unprecedented heights.
