OBJECTIVES:

1) To form a preliminary impression of traditional Chinese architecture through the cognition of architectural cases and related art works, and understand Chinese traditional culture through the analysis of the background and causes behind the architectural form.

2) The aim is to open up the way of interpreting the culture of architecture. Through the understanding of Western art and architecture as integrated and cross-cultural phenomena, concentrating on western Eurasia more generally, we will examine chronologically the material developments of great cultures from Antiquity until the Renaissance, paying close attention to standing structures, archaeological remains, technology and thought.

GRADING POLICY:

1) The participation in class;

2) The reports/essays at the end of the class;

Submission Guidelines

1) All pages should be numbered. All pages should have student name on header.

2) All technical reports should professionally include the parts of abstract, main report content, discussion, reference.

Letter Grade

The scores will be given according to your report/essay. You will get:

A if 80% ≥

B if you get 70% to 80%

C if you get 60% to 70%

D if less than 60%
