Meeting with French Delegation
Denis Chambe in conversation with CUMT management
Denis Chambe, deputy mayor of Saint-Etienne, France, visited CUMT with an accompanying delegation. Vice President Zhou Guoqing and representatives from the Foreign Affairs Office of Xuzhou welcomed the delegation.
The President briefed the delegation them on the historyof CUMT and its current international standing.
Mr. Zhou congratulated the “Twin Cities”of Saint-Etienne and Xuzhou on their relationship which boasts a long history of 35 years. France was praised for its uniquehigher education system and high-quality elite engineer education. He expressed the hope that both parties would carry out substantial cooperation to complement each other as Saint-Etienne is equipped with prestigious institutions such as the National Engineer School. CUMT will endeavor to strengthenits advantageous disciplines whileextending its disciplines and specialties. Mr.Zhou expressedthe hope that fruitful results would be yielded from such cooperation.
Referring to Saint-Etienne’s industry and education, Denis Chambe said Saints-Etienne has cutting edge advantages in mining, machinery industry, textile industry, environmental protection and so on. Furthermore, it is regarded as a hub for creative designs in France and universities and enterprises are closely connected in the city.
He also expressed his willingness to boost educational cooperation by facilitating personnel exchanges and project cooperation between universities in Saint-Etienne and CUMT based on the long-time cooperation and friendship between Saint-Etienne and Xuzhou.
Elisabeth Crouzols, President of St. Michel Sports Massage School of Saint-Etienne and Philippe Bertrand, director of International Department of Saint-Etienne National Engineer School introduced their specialty setup and international cooperation respectively. Subsequently there were in-depth discussions on the potential cooperation with directors of the School of Mechatronic Engineering and School of Physics of CUMT.
It was preliminarily agreed that CUMT will send teachers and postgraduates to Saint-Etienne National Engineer School for study and exchange in 2020. CUMT also issued an invitation to students from Saint-Etienne to participate in its summer school program. The field of sports medicine also witnessed great progress as St. Michel Sports Massage School will launch academic exchanges with the School of Physics of CUMT.
This very important meeting concluded with the delegation visiting the Electromechanical Collaboration Center and the University Science Park of CUMT.
The Saint-Etienne and Xuzhou “Twin Cities” relationship was forged in 1984. Being a member of the French National Engineer School Group, Saint-Etienne National Engineer School offers three majors, namely mechanical engineering, civil engineering and perception engineering, totaling 1000 students on campus. It adheres to elite training traditions.
CUMT hassigned a memorandum of understanding with Saint-Etienne National Engineer School to facilitate a student exchange agreement in January this year.
