From May 26th to 27th, the 9th International Conference on Energy, Resources, Environment and Sustainable Development (ERESD 2022) was held in CUMT. This conference is hosted by China University of Mining and Technology, co-hosted by China Coal Group, co-organized 11 overseas universities including University of Kentucky, West Virginia University, University of Wollongong , Saint Petersburg Mining University, AGH University of Science and Technology, RWTH Aachen University, TFH Georg Agricola University, Quang Ninh University of Industry, University of Pembangunan National Veteran Yogyakarta, Catholic University of Salta and Lappeenranta University of Technology. At the same time, this conference is supported by the International Competence Center for Mining-Engineering Education under the Auspices of UNESCO, China Coal Society, International Green Building Alliance, International Journal of Mining Science and Technology and International Higher Education Alliance for Mining, Energy and Environment.
The meeting was held online and on-cite. The opening and closing ceremonies and plenary sessions were broadcast live through the official website of the conference, combined with virtual zoom conference. More than 400 participants from over 25 countries and regions attended this conference, including China, Russia, the United States, Poland, Australia, Finland, Germany, Vietnam, Indonesia, Norway, Sweden, Chile, France, Italy and so on. Focusing on the conference theme - Energy, Resources, Environment and Sustainable Development in the Context of Carbon Peaking and Carbon Neutrality, the attendees discussed the transformation and development of the energy field, shared practical strategies for sustainable development and put forward many new concepts, perspectives and schemes.
At the opening ceremony held on the morning of the 26th, Prof. Ranjith,the academician of Australian Academy of Technology and Engineering and professor of Monash University, Mr. Liu Feng, the vice president of China National Coal Association and chairman of China Coal Society delivered speeches online. Prof. Song xuefeng, president of CUMT announced the commencement of the conference.
Prof. Song xuefeng mentioned in his speech that energy, resources, environment and sustainable development are topics of common concern to all mankind. This conference is held at the right time as we may take the opportunity of carbon peaking and carbon neutrality to promote the coal industry from ultra-low emission to near zero emission and zero emission, as well as promote the sustainable development of energy, resources and environment. CUMT will make unremitting efforts in the "big article" of green coal mining and efficient utilization, as well as in the "new articles" of future energy resources exploitation, so as to promote CUMT into a world-class university with characteristics in energy and resources.

The closing ceremony was held on the afternoon of the 27th. A total of 37 Excellent Paper Award, 75 Excellent Oral Presentation Award and 12 Best Poster Award were announced. Subsequently, representatives from domestic and overseas shared their experience and remarks of this conference.
On behalf of CUMT, Madam Liu Bo delivered the closing speech. She said that CUMT would like to take the conference as an opportunity to join hands with friends at home and abroad to enhance all-round cooperation in terms of energy and resource utilization, environmental protection and sustainable development, contributing to a community with a shared future for mankind.
