The Employment Ceremony of Mr. Bernhard Müller, academician of German National Academy of Sciences and Engineering, was held in Room B301 of Xingjian Building on the afternoon of September 1.
President Song Xuefeng, vice president Ye Jihong, heads of relevant offices, including the Department of Human Resources, International Office, School of Architecture & Design, as well as representatives of teachers and students attended the ceremony. The Ceremony was presided over by vice president Ye Jihong.
President Song Xuefeng delivered a speech and awarded a letter of employment to academician Bernhard Müller. Prof. Song Xuefeng extended a warm welcome to academician Bernhard Müller. He said that CUTM has taken a series of measures such as improving talent attraction policies, increasing the salaries and bonuses of talents, expanding channels for introducing talents, as well as optimizing supportive mechanisms for talent development which have in turn attracted more talents to CUMT. As a full-time academician introduced from a foreign developed country by CUMT, academician Müller will play a significant role in enhancing CUMT’s education and international influence. He hoped that Prof. Müller will make the most use of his academic influence to lead the strategic development of related disciplines, cultivate new disciplines and research directions, help CUMT introduce and cultivate urgently needed high-end talents, and improve the level and domestic and international influence of such disciplines as urban and rural planning at CUMT.
In his speech, academician Bernhard Müller thanked CUMT for its kind and warm welcome. He said that he has confidence in meeting new challenges and will be committed to enhancing the academic influence of urban and rural planning both at home and abroad, combining CUMT’s discipline characteristics to the development of urban regional planning, and sharing cutting-edge scientific achievements on the international stage. He also proposed the idea of establishing a global center for mining resources and urban-rural research.
Prof. Luo Pingjia, dean of the School of Architecture and Design, delivered a speech on behalf of the School. She briefly reviewed the foundation of cooperation, and introduction process with academician Bernhard Müller. She stated that the School will give full support to academician Bernhard Müller. The office, research team and research planning have been prepared for him.
In recent years, CUMT has been firm in implementing the strategy of building the university with talents and taken multiple measures to increase the introduction of talents in an all-round manner. Since 2020, CUMT has introduced 513 full-time teachers and 224 postdoctoral teachers, including 220 associate professors and above. More outstanding talents have been introduced to CUMT than ever before.
