CUMT Attends Launch Meeting for Upgraded China’s APEC Energy Partnership Network

On March 21, the National Energy Administration convened a launch meeting for the upgrade of China’s participation in the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Energy Partnership Network (hereinafter referred to as the "Partnership Network"). Mr. Ren Jingdong, Deputy Director of the National Energy Administration, attended and addressed the meeting. Representatives from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ Department of International Economic Affairs, the International Cooperation Department of the National Energy Administration, the Partnership Network Secretariat, and leaders of various expert groups and their supporting institutions participated in the event. Director of CUMT International office also attended the meeting.

In his speech, Ren Jingdong first expressed gratitude for the strong support from member institutions of the Partnership Network and extended congratulations to the newly appointed chair and vice-chair units of the expert groups. He emphasized that all members should elevate their strategic positioning, strengthen strategic planning and coordination, seize opportunities through proactive engagement, and actively showcase China’s outstanding achievements and experiences in preparation for the 2026 APEC host year to be chaired by China.

During the meeting, the International Cooperation Department of the National Energy Administration outlined the background and upgrade plan of the Partnership Network. Representatives from the APEC Energy Working Group, APEC Sustainable Energy Center, APEC Energy Efficiency and Conservation Expert Group, and the Partnership Network Secretariat shared insights on APEC energy cooperation trends and operational experiences while clarifying the Partnership Network’s work plan. Since being approved as the Vice-Chair unit of the Clean Fossil Energy Expert Group, CUMT has actively engaged in APEC energy cooperation initiatives, including applying for funded projects and conducting research for key initiatives, contributing Chinese expertise and solutions to advance energy transition and high-quality development across the Asia-Pacific region.
