On the morning of January 27th, the 2025 Chinese New Year Celebration was held at the Wenchang campus. Vice President Bian Zhengfu and other CUMT colleagues met with the international students who stayed on campus during the winter break and sent them New Year greetings. Chinese and international faculty and students gathered together, celebrating the arrival of the Year of the Snake (乙巳) amidst a rich festive atmosphere.
Bian Zhengfu delivered the New Year greetings to the international students on behalf of the university. He reviewed the achievements made by the university in promoting higher quality development over the past year and expressed appreciation for the active participation of the international students in the "Experience China" series of activities amidst their study and academic research. He emphasized that the university serves as a home for international students in China and pledged to continue creating a better environment for their studies, living, and work. He hoped that all international students would continue to study diligently, strive for excellence, share the stories of China well, and make even greater progress in the new year.
New Year gifts, conveying deep care and best wishes, are prepared by the university and sent to each student by Vice President Bian Zhengfu and the heads of various departments.
The event venue, adorned in festive decorations, was filled with joy and a warm, harmonious atmosphere, truly capturing the essence of the Chinese New Year. The celebration included segments such as the commendation of outstanding international students from 2024, New Year greetings from the students, and vibrant song and dance performances. The ambiance was jubilant and enthusiastic, punctuated by frequent bursts of applause, cheers, and shouts of excitement, making it a memorable celebration for all attendees.
Chen Liya, a student from Thailand, said, "This is my first time celebrating the New Year in China, and I have felt an incredibly rich festive atmosphere. I've learned a lot about the traditional culture of the Spring Festival. I am also delighted to have had the opportunity to introduce Thai New Year customs to the teachers. I look forward to more such opportunities in the future to further explore and experience the diverse and colorful cultural traditions of China."
The leaders and teachers joined the international students for lunch, engaging in conversations about their studies and life on campus. The entire event concluded successfully in a joyful and warm atmosphere.
Heads of various departments of the university, including the Student Affairs Office, the International Office, the Security Office, the General Services Department, and the International College, also participated in the event.
