Azimov Shavkat, Vice President of Tashkent State Technical University
of Uzbekistan delivered a speech
On the afternoon of May 15, Vice President Azimov Shavkat of Tashkent State Technical University (TSTU), Uzbekistan, and his delegation visited CUMT. Vice President Bian Zhengfu met with the delegation, with the talks chaired by Chen Wen, Director of the International Office.
Bian Zhengfu extended a warm welcome to the delegation, introducing the CUMT’s geographical advantages, development history, disciplinary strengths, and its role in global education governance. He noted that the two universities share broad prospects for cooperation in energy and engineering technology and expressed hope for practical collaboration in areas such as study-in-China programs, short-term academic exchanges, Chinese language courses, and scientific research to inject new vitality into China-Uzbekistan educational cooperation. Bian Zhengfu also invited TSTU to join the International Higher Education Alliance for Mining, Energy, and Environment, which was initiated by CUMT in 2009, to jointly advance talent cultivation and scientific research in these fields under the Belt and Road Initiative.
Azimov expressed gratitude for the hospitality and provided an overview of TSTU’s history, educational profile, student body, and disciplinary development. He hoped this visit would serve as an opportunity to expand cooperation, including faculty and student exchanges and joint research.
During the meeting, both sides held in-depth discussions on student recruitment, faculty exchanges, and research collaboration, reaching preliminary consensus. Representatives from the International Office, the Office of Undergraduate Academic Affairs, the School of Mines attended the meeting.
