Speech by President of Pakistan’s Pak-Austria Fachhochschule:
Institute of Applied Sciences and Technology (PAF:IAST)
Recently, President Zhao Hongwei held a working meeting with Muhammad Mujahid, President of Pakistan’s Pak-Austria Fachhochschule: Institute of Applied Sciences and Technology (PAF:IAST), in Conference Room B501 of Xingjian Building. The meeting was chaired by the head of the International Office.
Zhao Hongwei welcomed Mujahid’s visit and introduced the university’s achievements in recent years and its future development plans. He noted that the long-standing China-Pakistan friendship, along with the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) initiative promoted by both governments, has provided a broad outlook for cooperation between the two universities. The university will continue to support collaborative programs with PAF:IAST, advance new progress in building the "China-Pakistan Mineral Resources Engineering Talent Center," and contribute more to the economic and social development of both countries.
Mujahid expressed gratitude for the university’s thoughtful arrangements and congratulated CUMT on its achievements. He mentioned that PAF:IAST pioneered a "trinity" cross-training model in Pakistan, integrating "applied technology," "talent centers," and "university science parks," and has engaged in deep cooperation with over ten top global industry universities, including CUMT. He looked forward to early mutual visits between the two universities to plan and implement a new round of cooperation.
At the meeting, both sides conducted in-depth discussions on talent cultivation, renewing inter-university cooperation agreements, and joint research, with a focus on advancing the "Sino-Pak Center for Mineral Resources Engineering" project. Relevant officials from the Graduate School, International Office, School of Mines, School of Chemical Engineering, and International College attended the meeting.
