Launch Ceremony of "Safety & Emergency" Journal

The 4th International Youth Academic Conference on Coal Mine Gas Control and Utilization was held in Xuzhou from November 21 to 23. The conference was jointly hosted by China University of Mining and Technology (CUMT) and the Coal Mine Gas Disaster Prevention and Utilization Professional Committee of the China Occupational Safety and Health Association (hereinafter referred to as the "Professional Committee"). It was organized by the School of Safety Engineering, the National Engineering Research Center for Coal Gas Control, the National Key Laboratory of Coal Disaster Dynamics and Control, and the Editorial Department of Safety & Emergency, among others.
The opening ceremony was attended by Bian Zhengfu, Vice President of CUMT; Bi Qiang, Member of the Party Committee, Vice Chairman and Secretary-General of the China Occupational Safety and Health Association; He Xueqiu, Professor from University of Science and Technology Beijing; Guo Liwen, former Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of North China University of Science and Technology; Wei Jianping, Vice President of Henan Polytechnic University; Xu Jiang, Professor from Chongqing University; Gao Jianliang, Professor from Henan Polytechnic University; and Cheng Yuanping, Director of the Coal Mine Gas Disaster Prevention and Utilization Professional Committee. The opening ceremony was presided over by Zhai Cheng, Dean of the School of Safety Engineering. The conference brought together more than 300 participants as well as from enterprises.
Bian Zhengfu, on behalf of CUMT, extended a warm welcome to the attending leaders and experts. He briefly introduced the university's basic situation, stating that for a long time, CUMT has always been committed to research on coal mine gas control and utilization, focusing on cutting-edge directions such as gas geology, disaster early warning, precise extraction, and efficient utilization. He noted that CUMT has achieved a series of industry-leading innovative results, playing an indispensable role in enhancing the safety assurance level of China's coal mines. He emphasized that as the lead initiator and supporting unit of the Professional Committee, the university will join hands with all co-initiating units, committee members, and experts to pool wisdom and efforts, leverage the platform's converging role, and jointly make new and greater contributions to the development of the field of gas disaster prevention and utilization in China and to the building of a Safe China.
