From September 14 to 17, President Zhang Jixiong of CUMT led a delegation to visit Mongolia. They attended activities including the signing and unveiling ceremony of the "China-Mongolia College for Excellent Engineers"， the unveiling ceremony of the “Overseas Industry-Academia-Research Center, School of Energy, China University of Mining and Technology”， and "Mongolia Mining Week and the International Mining Exhibition". They also paid a visit to the Embassy of China in Mongolia, promoting the university's industry-education cooperation with Mongolia in a deeper and more substantive manner.

On September 15, CUMT, together with the Mongolian University of Science and Technology (MUST), Zhenbao Industrial and Technology Park Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "Zhenbao Park Company"), and China Certification & Inspection Group Mongolia Hong Kong Foreign Investment Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "CCIC Mongolia Company"), officially signed a four-party co-construction agreement in Ulaanbaatar for the "China-Mongolia College for Excellent Engineers" (CUMT-MUST), and held an unveiling ceremony.

Zhang Jixiong attended the ceremony with Namnan Tumurpurev, President of MUST, Munkh-Id Naranchachralt, Executive Director of Zhenbao Park Company, and Bao Yonggan, General Manager of CCIC Mongolia Company. In his speech, Zhang Jixiong said that the "China-Mongolia College for Excellent Engineers" is the first project jointly established by Chinese and Mongolian universities and enterprises to closely meet the development needs of the energy and resource industries of both countries and jointly cultivate international excellent engineers. Relying on the four-party co-construction mechanism, CUMT will face the real needs of the mining industries of both countries, continue to innovate the international excellent engineer joint training model, and contribute CUMT's strength to high-quality "Belt and Road" cooperation.

Relevant heads of the Mongolian University of Science and Technology, Zhenbao Park Company, and CCIC Mongolia Company separately stated that they will actively cooperate in carrying out teaching and research, open internship and practical training platforms and industrial practice scenarios, give full play to professional advantages in inspection and certification, and fully support the construction of the institute and talent cultivation.

Before the meeting, the delegation visited CCIC Mongolia Company. Zhang Jixiong and Bao Yonggan unveiled the "Overseas Industry-University-Research Center of the School of Energy, China University of Mining and Technology," and discussed issues including excellent engineer training, center construction, and technical exchanges in the field of inspection and testing. The next morning, at Zhenbao Park Company, the two sides held in-depth exchanges on issues such as short-term employee training programs, mine information center construction, and mine ecological governance, and visited the Baganuur coal chemical production base.

On the afternoon of September 16, the delegation attended "Mongolia Mining Week and the International Mining Exhibition" held in Ulaanbaatar. In his speech at the opening ceremony, Zhang Jixiong said that the university will accelerate the construction of the China-Mongolia Institute of Excellent Engineers, closely align with the needs of Mongolia's mining industry transformation and upgrading, cultivate high-quality engineering and technical talent, focus on collaborative research in key areas, and provide scientific and technological support and talent guarantee for the high-quality and sustainable development of China-Mongolia mining.

At the opening ceremony, Erdenetuya, Advisor to the Prime Minister of Mongolia, read a congratulatory letter from Prime Minister Nyam-Osor Uchral. The Ministry of Industry and Mineral Resources of Mongolia, Genghis Khan Fortune Group, and other parties spoke highly of the talent cultivation projects carried out by the university with the Mongolian side, and stated that they would strongly support them. Zhang Jixiong and Mongolian representatives jointly unveiled the "Overseas Industry-Academia-Research Center, School of Energy, China University of Mining and Technology" and awarded project scholarship funding certificates to the first batch of 20 Mongolian students in the "2+2" undergraduate program in Energy Chemical Engineering jointly organized by our university, the Mongolian University of Science and Technology, and Zhenbao Park.

On September 17, Zhang Jixiong and his delegation paid a visit to the Embassy of China in Mongolia and exchanged views with Li Zhi, Cultural Counselor and Director of the Ulaanbaatar Chinese Cultural Center, on deepening China-Mongolia cooperation in education, science and technology. Li Zhi fully affirmed the university's contribution to promoting China-Mongolia industry-education cooperation and said he would fully support the university in deepening cooperation with Mongolian universities and enterprises.

This visit further deepened CUMT's substantive cooperation with partner universities and enterprises in Mongolia, opened up new space for student training, scientific research cooperation, and teacher exchanges, and injected new momentum for international cooperation into the university's efforts to build a world-class university with distinctive features in energy and resources.

Relevant heads of the university's International Office, International Student’s Office, School of Energy, National College for Excellent Engineers, and School of Continuing Education accompanied the visit.
