From October 14 to 16, Zhao Hongwei, Party Secretary of China University of Mining and Technology, led a delegation to visit Sweden. The delegation visited KTH Royal Institute of Technology, Senior Material (Europe) AB (hereinafter referred to as "Senior Europe"), and met with officials at the Chinese Embassy in Sweden. The visit aimed to deepen practical cooperation in scientific and technological innovation, the integration of science and education, and industry-education integration, injecting new momentum for international cooperation into the university’s endeavor to build a world-class university with distinctive strengths in energy and resources.

On the morning of October 14, the delegation visited KTH Royal Institute of Technology and held a working meeting with Deputy President Mikael Lindström.

Zhao Hongwei stated that in July this year, the foreign ministers of China and Sweden held talks focusing on deepening strategic cooperation in emerging fields such as scientific and technological innovation, green transition, and circular economy, and promoting more people-to-people and cultural exchanges. As a top global science and engineering university, KTH has long been committed to addressing global issues such as climate governance, energy security, and green development through technological innovation, making significant contributions to the green and low-carbon transition in Sweden and the world, and serving as a benchmark for higher engineering education and research innovation in Northern Europe. As a national key university with distinctive features in the energy and resources field, CUMT has always been deeply engaged in core areas such as energy and resource security and green and low-carbon transition, taking energy, resources, mining, deep earth, and safety as its five key development directions. The two universities have highly aligned disciplinary layouts, shared development visions, and broad space for cooperation. He expressed the hope that both sides would continue to tap into cooperation potential, focusing on research breakthroughs, talent cultivation, faculty mutual visits, and academic exchanges, working together on common issues such as energy and resource security and sustainable human development to jointly address major global development challenges.

Mikael Lindström stated that KTH highly values research innovation and university-industry cooperation and has carried out extensive cooperation with Chinese universities. He looked forward to more pragmatic cooperation between the two universities in areas such as faculty and student exchanges and technological innovation, jointly promoting frontier technological breakthroughs and the transformation of scientific and technological achievements. During the seminar, both sides conducted in-depth exchanges and discussions on fields such as energy systems, thermal and power engineering, smart building energy efficiency, and multi-energy coupling applications. After the meeting, the delegation visited the laboratories of KTH's Department of Energy Technology, observing on-site test systems and platforms such as the world's first high-flux solar simulator and turbomachinery and compressor test rigs, and reached cooperation intentions in education and research in areas such as high-temperature thermal energy storage and aerospace propulsion.

On the afternoon of October 14, the delegation visited Senior Europe. Zhao Hongwei and Liu Shougui, Chairman and CEO of the company, jointly signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) and witnessed the unveiling of the CUMT Overseas Talent Cultivation Base and the CUMT–Senior Material Europe Industry-Academia-Research Joint Center.

Zhao Hongwei pointed out that the signing of this MoU and the unveiling of the related platforms opened a new chapter for deep collaboration between CUMT and the overseas subsidiaries of Chinese new energy enterprises. He expressed the hope that both sides would rely on these two platforms to focus on joint research breakthroughs, overcome technical bottlenecks in the new energy field, carry out solid joint cultivation of international talents, bridge the educational paths between university research and overseas corporate practice, cultivate compound talents well-versed in international industry rules, and forge a new path of university-enterprise international cooperation featuring complementary advantages and mutual benefit, making greater contributions to promoting the development of the global new energy industry and deepening China-Sweden exchanges and cooperation in the energy field.

Liu Shougui stated that Senior Europe is rooted in the R&D and international production of new energy materials and looks forward to collaborative innovation with top domestic universities to accelerate technological innovation and achievement transformation. He hoped that both sides would rely on the joint center and talent cultivation base to jointly cultivate high-quality talents suited to the international development needs of the new energy industry. At the meeting, both sides held pragmatic consultations and reached multiple consensuses on topics such as joint research on key technologies, transformation of innovative achievements, follow-up operating mechanisms, joint cultivation of international talents, establishment of special scholarships, and student employment in enterprises.

On October 15, Zhao Hongwei and his delegation paid a courtesy call to the Chinese Embassy in Sweden, exchanging views with Ambassador Zhou Limin and Counselor Huang Liqiong on deepening exchanges and cooperation between Chinese and Swedish universities and enterprises. Zhao Hongwei introduced the basic situation of CUMT, especially its work in areas such as energy and resource security and green and low-carbon transition, as well as its cooperation with Sweden, and engaged in in-depth exchanges on enhancing international exchange and cooperation capabilities. Zhou Limin fully affirmed the university's achievements in promoting China-Sweden exchanges and cooperation in the energy field and stated that the embassy would continue to support the university in deepening pragmatic cooperation with Swedish universities and enterprises. The next day, the delegation attended a student event at KTH Royal Institute of Technology, engaging in exchanges and discussions with representatives of Chinese students and alumni in Sweden.

This visit further consolidated the foundation of mutual trust and cooperation between CUMT and Swedish universities and enterprises, reached multiple cooperation consensuses in areas such as sustainable energy development, multi-energy storage and distribution technology, and new energy material R&D and international production, opened up new paths for two-way faculty-student exchanges and collaborative research innovation, and added new international cooperation platforms for the university to accelerate the building of a world-class university with distinctive strengths in energy and resources.

Relevant heads from the Undergraduate Academic Affairs Office, Graduate School, Academy of Science and Technology, International Office, and International Student Management Office of CUMT accompanied the visit.
