The First Youth Forum of Journal of Mine Automation and the Releasing Ceremony of the Special Issue of “All Mine AI Video Analysis Technology”, organized by the Editorial Team of Journal of Mine Automation hosted by China Coal Technology & Engineering Group Changzhou Research Institute Co., Ltd., and co-organized by School of Information and Control Engineering, China University of Mining and Technology, was held in Xuzhou, Jiangsu Province from December 14 to 15. The forum aimed to create a sound academic atmosphere, facilitate the growth and development of early-career mining scientists, promote the exchange and dissemination of new technologies and achievements in building IT-based, intelligent and automated coal mines, and contribute to the high-quality development of China’s coal industry.
Li Qiang, CUMT Vice President, and Tian Hua, Party Secretary and Chairman of China Coal Technology & Engineering Group Changzhou Research Institute Co., Ltd., and Editor-in-Chief of Journal of Mine Automation attended and addressed the opening ceremony. Over 150 people including scientists from universities, research institutes, and mining enterprises, as well as editorial board members of Journal of Mine Automation, young expert committee members, as well as teachers and students from CUMT, participated in the forum. Wang Hui, Deputy Editor-in-Chief and Director of the Editorial Team of Journal of Mine Automation, presided over the opening ceremony.
On behalf of CUMT, Vice President Li Qiang expressed his heartfelt gratitude to friends from various sectors who have long cared about and supported CUMT’s development. He pointed out that, under the guidance of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era and based on the four aspects we are facing, CUMT has conducted a lot of pioneering researches around all mine AI video analysis technology and has made remarkable achievements, making positive contributions to promoting industrial transformation and upgrading, and building intelligent mines. He hoped that participants can take this forum as an opportunity to explore innovative ways of coal production empowered by intelligent technologies such as smart AI video analysis and computer vision so as to make greater contributions to safety, intelligent, green, low-carbon and high-quality development of coal industry.
In Tian Hua’s speech, he said that since the inception of Journal of Mine Automation inception, it has published a large number of innovative and excellent papers on coal science and technology, which has made positive contributions to the development and application of coal mine automation, informatization and intelligent technology in China. He said that the forum, themed “Innovation and AI driven development”, showcased the latest research achievements on intelligent coal mine technologies and contributed to the transformation and upgrading of coal industry. He hoped that this forum will expand the horizon of young coal scientists and strengthen exchanges and cooperation, thus facilitating scientific innovation and talent cultivation in coal industry.
The releasing ceremony of the special issue of “All Mine AI Video Analysis Technology” was held concurrently. Prof. Cheng Deqiang from School of Information and Control Engineering of CUMT, and Guest Editor-in-Chief of Journal of Mine Automation briefed participants on the collection, review and publication of papers on the special issue. Professorate Senior Engineer Tian Hua and Prof. Cheng Deqiang jointly unveiled the special issue. The releasing ceremony was presided over by Li Ming, Deputy Director of the Editorial Team.
Prof. Sun Jiping, former Vice President of China University of Mining and Technology (Beijing), Prof. Tan Guojun and Prof. Cheng Deqiang of China University of Mining and Technology, and Prof. Li Jingzhao of Anhui University of Science and Technology were invited to give plenary presentations entitled “Key Intelligent Coal Mine Technologies”, “Intelligent and Automated Control Technologies for Mine Hoisting Systems”, “AI Technology and AI Analysis of Coal Mine Safety Production Video”, and “Research and Application of Efficient Intelligent Processing for Coal Mine Safety Monitoring Video Edges”.
11 scientists including Prof. Mao Qinghua of Xi’an University of Science and Technology, Researcher Liu Qing of CCTEG Beijing Tianma Intelligent Control Technology Co., Ltd., Senior Engineer Zhou Libing of China Coal Technology & Engineering Group Changzhou Research Institute Co., Ltd., Associate Researcher Zhang Liya of CCTEG China Coal Research Institute, and Associate Professor Fu Xiang of Taiyuan University of Technology gave academic presentations on video AI-based intelligent recognition of abnormalities in coal mine, automated and intelligent mining, coal mine underground Internet of Vehicles and advanced AI-assisted driving, multimodal visual intelligent video analysis and warning in mines, and new generation AI-empowered technologies for intelligent coal mine.
Plenary presentation session and academic presentation session were respectively presided over by Chen Xiaojing, Vice General Manager of China Coal Technology & Engineering Group Changzhou Research Institute Co., Ltd., and Director of the Youth Expert Committee of Journal of Mine Automation, and Dai Wei, Deputy Dean of the Artificial Intelligence Research Institute, CUMT, and member of Youth Expert Committee of Journal of Mine Automation.
