From January 5 to 7, Ecology Frontiers Forum and Academic Symposium on Land Space Governance and New Practices of Social Ecosystems was held in Xuzhou. This conference was co-sponsored by School of Public Policy and Management (School of Emergency Management) of CUMT and Editorial Department of Acta Ecologica Sinica, organized by School of Public Policy and Management (School of Emergency Management), and co-organized by Eco-Environment Knowledge Web Journal Group, Journal Club, The Society for Ecological Rehabilitation of Beijing, and Specialized Committee of Eco-Management of Ecological Society of China, with the aim of promoting the governance of land space and the construction of ecological civilization, and strengthening the academic exchange on the frontiers of innovative practices in China’s social ecosystem in the new era. At the opening ceremony, Bian Zhengfu, Vice President of CUMT, and Zhou Weiqi, Secretary-General of Ecological Society of China, delivered speeches. Wang Yibao, dean of School of Public Policy and Management (School of Emergency Management), presided over the opening ceremony.
Bian Zhengfu expressed his welcome and thanks to the participating experts and scholars, and outlined CUMT’s history and basic situation. He pointed out that land space governance is an important part of the modernization of national governance system and governance capacity, and the construction of ecological civilization urgently requires technological support for land space governance. This conference brings together top experts and scholars in the field of ecological environment governance in China, providing a high-level academic exchange platform for land space governance and offering a rare opportunity for ideational collision and academic communication.
In Zhou Weiqi’s speech, he pointed out that Ecological Society of China is a multidisciplinary and comprehensive academic organization, and Acta Ecologica Sinica has provided a good platform for the development of ecological research. He hopes that through this opportunity, the conference can promote wider and deeper academic exchanges, bring together various forces, and jointly contribute to the development of ecology and related disciplines.
The conference, focused on the theme of “Ecological Civilization and Land Space Governance,” invited distinguished speakers to deliver online keynote speeches, including Fu Bojie, academician of Chinese Academy of Sciences, and Lv Yonglong, foreign academician of The World Academy of Sciences, European Academy of Sciences, and Russian Academy of Sciences. Other speakers shared their cutting-edge academic progress and achievements in their respective fields including Professor Bian Zhengfu, Vice President of CUMT, Researcher Zheng Hua, recipient of National Distinguished Young Scholars Program from Research Center for Eco-Environmental Sciences Chinese Academy of Sciences, Researcher Luo Ming, Executive Deputy Director of Asia Center for Nature-based Solutions, Changjiang Distinguished Professor Peng Jian from Peking University, Professor Chen Bin, recipient of National Distinguished Young Scholars Program from Beijing Normal University, and Researcher Zhou Weiqi, recipient of National Distinguished Young Scholars Program from Research Center for Eco-Environmental Sciences, Chinese Academy of Sciences. The session of presentations was chaired by Distinguished Professor Jin Gui from CUMT and Quan Yuan, Deputy Director of Editorial Department of Acta Ecologica Sinica.
At the closing ceremony, Yu Wei, Secretary of the Party Committee of School of Public Policy and Management (School of Emergency Management), made a summary statement and announced the successful closing of the conference.
This conference established 11 sub-sessions, dean’s forum, Eco-Environment Knowledge Web strategy seminar, Eco-Environment Parlor and training on writing scientific and technical papers. More than 200 experts, scholars and postgraduates from universities and research institutes across China carried out in-depth exchanges and discussions on important issues in the fields of ecology and public administration.
