From December 18 to 20, the "13th International Symposium on Green Mining Theory and Practice and the 2024 Conference on High-Quality Development of Intelligent Mines" was held in Hohhot, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region. This year’s conference was hosted by China University of Mining and Technology and the Inner Mongolia Association for Intelligent Mines, with the National Key Laboratory of Coal Precision Exploration and Intelligent Development at China University of Mining and Technology serving as the organizer. Vice President Huang Junli of China University of Mining and Technology attended the opening ceremony. Approximately 400 experts and scholars from universities, research institutions, mining production and equipment enterprises across multiple countries—including China, Canada, the Czech Republic, Indonesia, and Pakistan—participated in the event. Additionally, the online audience reached over 7,500 viewers.
The opening ceremony of the conference was held o n the morning of December 19. Vice President Huang Junli delivered a welcoming address on behalf of China University of Mining and Technology. He extended a warm welcome to all the guests and underscored the significant importance of the conference. In his speech, Vice President Huang briefly highlighted the university’s accomplishments in green mining, scientific innovation, industry-academia-research collaboration, and international cooperation. He emphasized that the university is committed to addressing critical core technology challenges in energy resource development through the integration of green and intelligent innovations. This approach reflects the university's sense of responsibility and mission in supporting national strategies during this new era, particularly as an institution with distinct industry characteristics.
The 13th International Symposium on Green Mining Theory and Practice and the 2024 Conference on High-Quality Development of Intelligent Mines, held under the theme of "Green Development, Smart Enhancement," covered eight specialized topics of Mine Ecology and Environmental Restoration, Development of Coal-Associated Resources, Theories and Practices of Intelligent Mining, Development and Application of Mining Satellites, Early Warning and Prevention of Mine Disasters, In-Situ Leaching of Sandstone Uranium Mines, Development of Ultra-Deep Oil and Gas Resources, Advances in Mining Biotechnology. Additionally, the conference featured presentations on cutting-edge technologies and equipment, including promotion of new intelligent mining technologies and equipment, advancements in mine monitoring and safety technology from space, air, and ground, intelligent coal washing, Construction of intelligent drilling and blasting systems in mines, models for building safe, low-carbon, and intelligent mines, innovative clusters in the intelligent mining industry. The conference invited 17 distinguished scholars and experts to deliver keynote speeches, including Professor Giovanni Grasselli from the University of Toronto, Canada, Professor Petr Konicek from the Czech Academy of Sciences, Chief Engineer Li Quansheng from the National Energy Group, Professor Sun Baojiang from China University of Petroleum (East China), Professor Bi Yinli from Xi'an University of Science and Technology, Senior Engineer Oumar Traoré from the Advanced Institute of Mining Geology in Boke, Guinea. Furthermore, 32 experts presented thematic reports at the conference. This event attracted over 100 mining enterprises and more than 50 mining service companies.
The 13th International Symposium on Green Mining Theory and Practice, held in conjunction with the 2024 Conference on High-Quality Development of Intelligent Mines, aims to provide a comprehensive platform for research institutions and researchers to exchange scientific achievements, promote technology transfer and application, and offer mining companies opportunities for technological innovation and solutions to practical engineering challenges. It also serves as a showcase for mining equipment manufacturers to present their technologies and expand market reach. The conference actively promotes an innovative spirit by building a bridge between academia and industry, fostering deep integration of mining innovation with the real economy. By doing so, it achieves the goals of "Openness and Diversity, Collaborative Cooperation, and Mutual Benefit and Win-Win."
