Journalist Delegation from Latin America and Eurasian Countries Visits CUMT

On March 28, the "Exploring Jiangsu" foreign media program arrived at CUMT. The university welcomed a 20 member delegation including Huang Liming, Counselor from the Public Diplomacy Office of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs' Department of Press; Cao Yang from Xinhua News Agency International Communication Department; Huang Hongchang from Jiangsu Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism's Foreign Exchange Office; and journalists from Latin American and Eurasian countries. Vice President of CUMT Bian Zhengfu met with the delegation.
Bian Zhengfu extended warm welcome to the visiting journalists and briefed them on the university's history since its founding in 1909, the disciplinary development, and international cooperation achievements. He emphasized CUMT's commitment to open education, highlighting collaborative projects including the China-Argentina Joint Research Center for Microbial Mining and Soil Ecological Restoration established with Salta Catholic University in Argentina, the China-Ecuador School of Mining built with Escuela Superior Politécnica de Chimborazo in Ecuador, and upcoming overseas industry-academia-research centers in Latin America and other regions.
The delegation then visited the State Key Laboratory for Fine Exploration and Intelligent Development of Coal Resources and the Undergraduate Innovation Training Center. Researchers demonstrated microbial mining and biohydrogen production technologies from the China-Argentina joint research program, while students showcased innovative projects including the "Cobot Specialized Robot Group", "Green Mine Team's" waste backfill power generation system, and MR Mixed Reality practical training system.
During the tour, journalists conducted in-depth interviews with faculty members about CUMT's Latin American partnerships and innovation cultivation models. International students also shared their study and life experiences in China.
Hernán Federico Russo, Column Director from Argentina's Clarin, expressed excitement about CUMT's sustainable development collaborations with Argentine universities,particularly in green low-carbon initiatives addressing climate change. Abdybek uulu Daniiar, Founder of Kyrgyzstan's Bishkek News Agency, remarked that experiencing AR intelligent systems had transformed his understanding of technological innovation, pledging to promote academic exchanges between Belt and Road countries and China.
