Speech by Rector Farkhodbek Yarkulovich Umarov
On December 16, a 7-member delegation led by Rector Farkhodbek Yarkulovich Umarov from the Almalyk Branch of the National University of Science and Technology MISIS (Russia) in Uzbekistan visited CUMT for exchange. Vice President Bian Zhengfu met the delegation in Room B501 of Xingjian Building. The meeting was chaired by Chen Wen, Director of the International Office.
Vice President Bian extended a warm welcome to the delegation and briefly introduced the basic situation of CUMT. He noted that CUMT has a profound cooperative foundation with the MISIS (formerly the Moscow Institute of Mining). The Almalyk Branch, focusing on talent cultivation and scientific research innovation in mining and metallurgy, aligns well with CUMT's advantageous disciplines, promising broad prospects for cooperation. He expressed expectations for deepening collaboration in joint talent training and collaborative scientific research to contribute to industry development.
Rector Yarkulovich thanked CUMT for the warm reception. He introduced MISIS's educational characteristics, disciplinary layout, and international cooperation, emphasizing the importance of cross-border cooperation in mining and metallurgy, and expressed the willingness to establish stable cooperative relations with CUMT.
At the meeting, the two sides reached preliminary consensus on joint student training, deeper academic exchanges, and co-building joint laboratories. During the visit, the delegation also toured CUMT's History Museum, Undergraduate Innovation Training Center, School of Mining Engineering, and related laboratories.
Heads of relevant departments, including the Academic Affairs Office, Graduate School, Academy of Science and Technology, International Office, School of Mines, School of Chemical Engineering, and International College, attended the meeting.
The Almalyk Branch of the National University of Science and Technology MISIS is a branch campus established by the National University of Science and Technology MISIS in Almalyk, Uzbekistan. Founded in 2018, it offers programs in mining, metallurgy, automation technology, information systems and technology, and electrical engineering, aiming to cultivate high-quality engineering and technical talents for the mining and metallurgy industry.
