CUMT delegation entered into discussions with Professor Belle, the Congress Chair
Recently, upon the invitation of the organizers of the 12th International Mine Ventilation Congress (IMVC2024), Prof. Cheng Yuanping, Prof. Qin Botao, Prof. Wang Liang, and Prof. Wang Hetao from the School of Safety Engineering, along with staff from the International Office, attended the 12th International Mine Ventilation Congress in Sydney, Australia, at the invitation of the congress organizer.
IMVC2024 is hosted by the University of New South Wales in Australia. With the theme of "Ventilation Engineering—the Pulse of Mining," IMVC2024 offers a platform for exchange of new technologies and in the field of mine ventilation to improve ventilation, cooling, health, and safety in mines globally. This congress, featuring 12 keynote speeches and 23 parallel sessions, attracted 489 experts, technicians, and managers from countries such as China, Australia, the United States, India, South Africa, Indonesia, and Canada.
Professor Qin Botao was invited to give a keynote speech titled "Key Technology and Application of Dust Control by Surfactant-Magnetized Water in Underground Coal Mines." Professor Wang Liang presented a report titled "Effect of Ultrasonic Modification of Nanopores in Coal on the Competitive Adsorption of CH4 by CO2." Professor Wang Hetao was invited to chair a session titled "Ventilation Case Studies" and also presented a report titled "Green and Efficient Foam Dust Suppression Technology and Application in Mines." Dr. Cheng Ming delivered a presentation titled "Precise Evaluation of Fracture Porosity of Coal Body: Key Factor in Assessing Free Gas Outburst Expansion Energy." The four presentations were well-received and sparked in-depth discussions among attendees, showcasing the outstanding research capabilities of our faculty and students in the field of mine ventilation and significantly enhancing the international influence of our safety discipline.
To further enhance CUMT 's international influence in the field of mine ventilation, Deputy Dean Wang Liang of the School of Safety Engineering, with strong support from CUMT and the School, submitted a bid to host the 13th International Mine Ventilation Congress to the conference executive committee on behalf of CUMT. He introduced CUMT's application plan for hosting the 13th congress and highlighted the main achievements made by CUMT in the field of mine ventilation. CUMT teachers and students promoted CUMT to participants through extensive exchanges and discussions with Professor Belle, the current chair of the organizing committee; Professor Li Shugang, former Vice President of Xi'an University of Science and Technology (XUST); Professor Deng Jun, current President of XUST; Professor Jerzy Krawczyk; Professor Riza Sani; Professor Sergei Sabanov, and other members of the conference executive committee.
The International Mine Ventilation Congress (IMVC) is the longest-standing, most influential, and highest-level international academic conference in the field of mine ventilation safety. It has become a crucial platform for the exchange of new technologies, ideas, products, and innovative achievements in ventilation safety and occupational health within the global mining community.
