On September 18th -20th , Prof. Lyuben Ivanov Totev, President of the University of Mining and Geology, St. Ivan Rilski, and Vice-president Pavel Evstatiev Pavlo visited CUMT.
President Ge Shirong expressed his welcome to guests and made an introduction on CUMT’s history, disciplinary development, scientific research strength, talents training, and international cooperation. President Ge said the professional settings of two universities are similar. With the strong strength in mining, mine safety, geotechnical engineering and other fields, CUMT welcome the professors and scholars of the University of Mining and Geology, St. Ivan Rilski to participate in joint research projects in these areas. He expected the two universities will implement broad cooperation on underground gasification, CO2 emission reduction and related aspects based upon CUMT’s international research platforms, including the International Research Center of Underground Coal Gasification and Sustainable Energy Research Institute.
President Totev introduced the development history, professional settings, faculty and international cooperation and exchange situation of University of Mining and Geology, St. Ivan Rilski. He said the two universities have a lot of opportunities to cooperate. He is willing to carry out in-depth cooperation with CUMT in many fields. He also expressed interest to join the International Higher Education Alliance for Mining, Energy and Environment.
On the meeting, the two sides signed a memorandum of understanding, remarking the establishment of formal intercollegiate cooperation relationship between two universities. President Ge conferred Guest Professorship to President Totev.
