On June 27th, the opening ceremony of 2015 Summer School Program, organized by the International Higher Education Alliance for Mining, Energy and Environment (AMEE), was held in the library of CUMT.
As the course project held by AMEE for the first time, the Summer School Program aims to provide a platform of short-term study in CUMT for international students from AMEE member universities and foreign resource-featured universities. The program is also regarded as a measure to build and intensify CUMT’s international education atmosphere and enhance international talent training.
The length of the Summer School Program is about 4 weeks, starting from June 25th to July 20th. It totally attracts 32 international and domestic students from 10 universities, including the University of Queensland(Australia), the University of Western Australia(Australia), the University of Wollongong(Australia), Saint-Petersburg Mining University(Russia), Technische Universität Bergakademie Freiberg(Germany), AGH University of Science and Technology(Polan), University of Ostrava(Austria), Hanoi University of Mining and Geology(Vietnam), German-Mongolian Institute for Resources and Technology(Mongolia), and CUMT.
The Summer School Program sets up 3 specialized courses of 40 credit hours wholly taught in English, including Introduction to Mine Deposit Geology, Green Mining Technology and Mine Safety Science, and also six lectures and lab visits. During the interval of professional studies, CUMT and international students will have extensive communication to experience the campus culture of Chinese university. Chinese language learning and various Chinese culture experiencing activities will add more Chinese characteristics to the program.
Representatives from AMEE Secretariat, Department of Teaching Affairs, International Office, International College, Sun Yueqi Honors College attended the opening ceremony.
